This year SU ICT Innovation Challenge joined forces with Urban ICT Arena, HIQ, Ericsson Garage, Stockholm University, and their partner Venture Cup – and that collaboration started off with a bang!
The SU ICT Innovation Challenge held a super exiting, live Dragon’s Den at the Ericsson Studio as part of the 2017 Urban ICT Arena Summit. This fall, we challenged startups to tackle the Sustainable Development Goals. And what a wonderful day we had! Three startups got the chance to pitch their idea to the audience and a jury,
The top three business ideas won great prizes that will help them kick-start their new businesses by giving them access to some of the best coaches and business consultants out there.
1ST PRIZE: Grand Prize winner: Q-smartly – Anand Chinnapandian
Q-Smartly App for customers (iOS & Android): Through this application you can view queue status remotely and also get on a queue even before reaching the branch. This gives the customers the freedom to be in the queue without physically waiting in the queue. This frees up your waiting time and you can choose to do other tasks like have lunch, coffee, go for a walk or get other tasks for the day done while still being able to come back to your queue position via the smart mobile application.
This entrepreneur has a great ambition to facilitate and streamline life for both private individuals and institutions through their business concept. With a sustainability mindset that meets the global targets, this idea has the potential to be a piece of the puzzle in the sustainable and connected city.

2ND PRIZE – One-node – Daniel Nordenström
One Node is a platform that matches users with charitable organizations based on what they are passionate about. Users are enabled to come in contact with organizations that fight for their issues and organizations come in contact with users who are passionate about their work. This is expected to contribute to increased efficiency and increased revenues for charities while at the same time reducing the threshold for private individuals and resulting in more involvement.
This idea clearly addresses the global sustainability goals and the team has a scalable solution to a relevant problem that is timely. With an innovative twist in a traditional market, there is potential to create a future where it is easier and more fun for individuals to contribute to a better society

3RD PRIZE – Ingenjörsakademin – Victor Parkkila
Ingenjörsakademin collects and creates the most relevant and high-quality study material for the common course offerings of Sweden’s largest engineering institutes. All in one place.
This dedicated team has quickly created great value for many user groups. With a strong driving force, this team wants to change and improve while giving everyone the same right to information and education. If there is a will, we will see a development that can take this idea beyond Sweden’s borders.

The SU ICT Innovation Challenge by Venture Cup is an idea competition where you showcase your new business idea that will help make the world a better place by addressing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

The competition is organized by Venture Cup in collaboration with Stockholm University, Urban ICT Arena, Studentkåren DISK, HiQ and Ericsson Garage.
