What a wonderful evening we had at Ericsson Garage Summit 2018: an afternoon of innovation, collaboration and inspiration at Ericsson Studio in Kista!
During the event, we got the chance to experience live demos and highlights from Ericsson Garages all over the world, including ideas on how you can tackle future use cases and applications across industries to create emerging business.
We also got to experience the finals of the Ericsson Incubator Program, during which five startups were given the opportunity to pitch their idea in front of the live audience and a very tough jury comprising Börje Ekholm, CEO of Ericsson, Åsa Tamson, VP Technology and Emerging Business at Ericsson, and Agate Freimane, the investment manager at Norrsken Foundation in Stockholm.
Ericsson Garage and Urban ICT Arena believe that Innovation is strongest through co-creation and partnerships that bring industries and innovators together, so the startups are offered a chance to join Urban ICT Arena.
The competitors included:
HypeLabs: a small company from the US that has developed interoperable cross-platform mesh networking software that improves connectivity on all kinds of devices, from mobile to desktop to IoT, allowing them to connect even when there is no internet.
ImagiCase: seeks to inspire the next generation of female technologists and increase the proportion of women studying and working in STEM fields. To accomplish this, they are creating a mobile platform for coding education coupled with customizable hardware devices.
EverTracker: provides a logistics platform that enables supply chain and logistics managers to gain full control over processes. Clients connect existing data sources to their platform, from GPS to RFID and manual scans.
Build-r: autonomous robotic drywall mounting for increased productivity and fewer worn-out workers.
SarvAI: offers a robust computer vision prototyping platform, called Sherlock, which analyses visual data in real-time and in a customizable fashion.
The competition was really tough, and we can only imagine that the decision was very difficult but, in the end, HypeLabs was announced the winner. In addition to a spot in Urban ICT Arena, first prize consists of a Launchpad to Silicon Valley and Berkeley’s Accelerator Program to kick start their business as part of Ericsson Garage Program 2018.
We at Urban ICT Arena want to wish the startups a warm welcome to explore the possibilities that Urban ICT Arena can offer them.
