SIS, Swedish Standards Institute, helps customers to develop their business and make it more efficient by providing a neutral forum where standards can be developed. SIS offers knowhow with defining areas for standardization in co-creation with other partners and project owners within Urban ICT Arena.
SIS is a member of the international standardization organization, ISO, with a membership of 162 national standards bodies, and also a member of CEN, the European standardization organization composed of 34 countries, including EU member countries, candidate and EFTA-countries.
As a Supporting Partner to Urban ICT Arena, SIS contribute to workshops with the aim to identify where standards can be one key to make your innovations commercialize, scalable and digitally sustainable in the smart city.
“Standards and standardization are important tools to enable faster and wider market access for Swedish innovations”
In general, the application of standards is voluntary, but it may constitute a mandatory requirement in for example regulatory and procurement procedures applied by public authorities. SIS develops, publishes and sells Swedish national standards, as well as international standards developed under the auspices of CEN (European level) and ISO (global level).
