SIS presents a survey on future transport

The Swedish Standards Institute (SIS) has conducted market research focused on finding key focus areas within Future Transport in a Sustainable City. The survey was conducted through in-depth interviews with 30 people from various parts of the transport and automotive industry, innovation support organizations and the public sector.

Despite the varying perspectives of the various respondents, the survey found a high degree of consensus on three primary development areas that drive growth:

  • Digitialization/ICT
  • Automation
  • Electrification

In addition, infrastructure and new business models are highlighted as secondary development areas, which can promote and, to a certain extent, drive growth in the primary areas.

In all areas, most of the respondents argued that there is a clear need for standardization as part of the frameworks and regulations required for realization of the development taking place around the world.
