Procera is involved in the Open Innovation for Industry project where Urban ICT Arena aims to develop high-level best practices that facilitate innovation collaboration between large and small companies. The long-term goal of the project is to increase innovation collaboration between large and small companies, paving the way for Swedish industry to be at the forefront of digital innovation.
Procera’s Scorecard is a product that analyzes internet traffic and scores (A-F) in terms of expected experienced quality for seven different applications (web, video, etc.). This is interesting for Ericsson, which works with SDN-based control and networks orchestration.
Objectives within Urban ICT Arena
The project connects Procera’s Scorecard to an SDN-based management system where data from Scorecard is used as the basis for automated steering of applications such as mobile networks of the kind Ericsson is developing for 5G.
The project’s method is to utilize a larger, already ongoing collaborative R&D project, Kista 5G Transport Lab, in which Ericsson and RISE Acreo cooperate to bring research results into commercial applications in the transport network for the future mobile network.
The project also aims to integrate functions that generate data describing the status of transported services, but also the status of transport infrastructure (communication network) and service-rendering infrastructure (data center).
