Huge success for CityMobil2 demonstration during the Kista Mobility week – both national and international media attention.

Kista Mobility Week is an event organized by Ericsson, Nobina and Kista Science City AB in collaboration with CityMobil2 (self-driving buses) within the scope of Drive Sweden.

The event took place from 25 to 29 of April along Kistagången in Urban ICT Arena’s testbed in Kista.

The week was filled with exciting sneak previews and test rides into the future – including 5G demonstrations and roundtables with participants from industry, academia and the public sector in true triple helix spirit on Connected Cooperative and Automated Transport and Mobility as a service.

At Kista Mobility Week, visitors got the opportunity to ride self-driving buses from CityMobil2 (EU project) for the first time in Sweden. Over 3,000 people took the chance to enjoy a ride in the self-driving buses during Kista Mobility Week. The Mayor of Stockholm Karin Wanngaard and Infrastructure Minister of Sweden Anna Johansson took a ride on the buses and were really fascinated with the concept.

The project aim was to demonstrate how public transport services and ICT companies – with Urban ICT Arena’s platform as the foundation – could collaborate to create a smart and responsive city.

The huge success of CityMobil2 led to a fruitful discussion with key representatives from the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen).

One positive result of the project is that it will ease the process for other companies that want to test self-driving vehicles in “live” situations in the future, because the process required has now been shaped.
