Urban ICT Arena welcomes Globhe as new Supporting Partner to Urban ICT Arena.
GLOBHE is launching Urban Drone Lab in Urban ICT Arena and will be providing drones and drone software for testbed activities.
Urban Drone lab will serve as a testbed and co-creation arena where positive use cases of drones will be developed, tested and showcased within areas such as the environment, health, digitalization and autonomous transportation. It includes drone services such as photography, videography, mapping, cargo transportation, data collection, consulting, etc. It will be open to public and private actors who wants to develop and test drone services and applications relevant to their business, operations or research.
“We are happy to have Globhe with us because it makes us even more diverse. It also enhances the innovative parts of the testbed and helps stimulate future and resilient partnerships, jobs, cities and societies with environmentally friendly urban and rural infrastructure networks at its core. So far, Globhe has been working with drones on an international scale, but now we are glad that they see the great potential in partnering with Urban ICT Arena here in Kista, Sweden,” says Petra Dalunde, COO of Urban ICT Arena.
Urban Drone Lab will coordinate the activities of global actors to co-create innovative drone development and partnerships for social good and smart city development. Globhe will link Urban ICT Arena with world-leading UAV and startup companies and providers, universities, innovation hubs, ICT companies, tech companies and international governments and organizations. Globhe will also conduct hackathons, innovation labs and seminars connected with Urban ICT Arena. The partnership will link the activities to ongoing UAV projects globally, address specific challenges and opportunities, and create new, innovative and strong partnerships going forward.
Tests have already been conducted in Malawi by testing drones for medical cargo delivery. The project is linked to the UNICEF drone project and run by GLOBHE.
“We think Urban Drone Lab at Urban ICT Arena will be a perfect platform for bringing in interested companies and organizations at home who are interested in using drones to develop their business and to jointly do this in a test environment before we go fully live, in line with Urban ICT Arena’s principles. It is also very exciting to be a part of Urban ICT Arena and to drive the development of drones in Sweden together with Petra Dalunde, COO at Urban ICT Arena. There are not too many women in this industry, so it’s extra inspirational to work with Petra, and put women on the map for the development of positive uses for drones,” says Helena Samsioe, CEO of GLOBHE
