The 16th of May there is RISE Innovation Day in Gothenburg! I am fortunate enough to have gotten a slot and present Urban ICT Arena there. My main message in this context is that digitalization is 15 % about tech and 85 % about organization and mindset.

The Minister of Enterprise, the Governor, the Mayor of Stockholm and Chairman of the Electrum Foundation opened Urban ICT Arena on 28 November.
Groundbreaking presentation of Urban ICT Arena’s contribution to the UN Global Goals at the first Global Goals Lab event at the Golden Gate Club in Presidio of San Francisco organized by Quantified Planet. Insights from the SF Dept. of the Environment and Trollback + Company who have also done some very innovative and Not Boring work to support the Global Goals.
The Grow Smarter project in Årsta, part of the Stockholm City Smart Cities Lighthouse project, is testing smart street lighting. This testbed is installing new lampposts that are used as bases for sensors, mesh networks and mobile networks in order to test capabilities for dimming the lights when no one is around to save energy.
The Not Boring 5G Bike was at Almedalen Week and got to be the center of attention at panels, workshops and seminars about testbeds and digitalization. The great interest in testbeds but lack of activity in other testbeds illustrated the crucial role Urban ICT Arena has to play.
SMEs and startups can benefit from Urban ICT Arena’s testbed, networks, partners, co-creation arena and display window. Key areas in which Urban ICT Arena needs to contribute to help SMEs involve the investor segment, startup funding, a pitch platform, public sector access and opening the door to SME ideas.
