The City of Stockholm offers e-services that make it more convenient than ever to be a resident of Stockholm, and is the main investor in the arena. As “the smartest city in the world”, Stockholm will be a city that harnesses the opportunities of digitalization to make life simpler and better for its citizens, companies and visitors.
Intel’s focus in Urban ICT Arena is on Smart Sustainable Cities, buildings and communications infrastructure (e.g. 5G and low power IP sensor networks). In its first project, Intel is establishing 6LoWPAN to enable an open standard-based testbed for smart city applications in Urban ICT Arena intended for utility use cases such as energy, water, air and traffic.
Telia and Ericsson have entered into a strategic partnership to enable customers in Stockholm to experience 5G services as early as in 2018. Telia will be an IT Infrastructure Provider in Urban ICT Arena by setting up WiFi.
Ericsson is a world leader in the rapidly changing environment of communications technology – providing equipment, software and services to enable transformation through mobility. 5G networks will include new capabilities in many dimensions: tremendous flexibility, lower energy requirements, greater capacity, bandwidth, security, reliability and data rates, as well as lower latency and device costs.
