Our extensive Vinnova application Open Innovation for Industry now has nine innovation projects starting up in open testbed Urban ICT Arena. These projects are part of our aim to develop high-level best practices that facilitate innovation collaboration between large and small companies – in this case between Cargo Beacon AB and Edsbyn Kontorsmöbler.
Cargo Beacon makes the market’s most cost-effective solution for actively monitoring goods and also the easiest way to use them. Cargo Beacon is based on IoT sensors, also known as loggers, to visualize deficiencies in logistics and enable improvements focused on minimizing transport damage.
Edsbyn Kontorsmöbler is a leading company in the market for office furniture with a high volume distribution line.
Objectives within Urban ICT Arena:
In order to easily pinpoint where and when problems arise in the distribution line, an integration is required where the goods order number or package number is matched to the Cargo Beacon identification and the information about environmental data is made available to the staff of the factory.
Staff at the Edsbyn factory need to quickly and easily handle outgoing goods with Cargo Beacon. The challenge is to quickly associate its unique identity with the company’s own information about the goods (e.g. package ID and order number) and to quickly understand the goods expected conditions by presenting KPI metrics.
Cargo Beacon first reviews details with Edsbyn’s logistics administrators and staff, adding app and server page features to enable integration into existing processes, such as barcode scanning, API calls & database customization.
